On another note, it has been my experience that the harder I try to fend off sleep, the deeper and more intense the inevitable coma becomes; I predict we’re in for a treat.

Isn’t all this just going to insure that when she finally DOES lose it and sleep, her dreams will be THAT much freakier? I mean, Freddy, seriously? This does not bode well.

That said, other techniques for maintaining alertness:

Peppermint. Gum, candy, essential oil, whatever. The smell of peppermint wakes you up. I use it during long drives if I start worrying I might fall asleep at the wheel.

Three-Minute Dance Break. Put on something peppy and dance like mad until the song is over. It jacks your adrenaline for a bit. Less useful on long drives, but very nice for all-night homework binges. I personally like “Deceptacon” by La Tigre for this purpose.

btw, can anyone tell what that design on sera’s shirt is? looks kinda like lettering, maybe a band logo, but i can’t tell.

i suspect that by that point i would probably be kicking any cat that dared to sleep in front of me. and i like *all* cats better than *all* people.

poor sera, a little kelton to talk to is what she really needs right now. i wouldn’t be able to ask either tho.

back when i had youth and vigor i once pulled off a bus-driving shift after at least 36 hour w/o sleep. successfully managed to not hit anything, barely. wouldn’t recommend it. i’m sure all those hundreds of passengers are much happier today for not knowing about that.
