O_O woah… this looks like something that could get very messy very easily, and I can’t wait for it to happen.

this got really exciting… I love how Sera says: “You said you’d never let them back in the house. You said that to me.”. Awesome job Aaron!!!

of all the scary things on this page, i’d have to say Lois’ “warning” is the scariest.
and i hate merrick ten times worse now. before he was evil. now he’s smart evil.

    • Claire Says:

Agree with alphatroll. If they’ve got Lois McCreedy intimidated, I don’t know who’s safe.
      Oh god, poor Sera. I want to hug her. ;;_______;;

And yeah, I hate Merrick. I hate his cheerful exclamation point most of all.

Merrick looks a bit like Barack Obama.

Looks! I said looks! Don’t stone meeeee

In reading so far, I do wonder if SSI’s motives are completely malignant. as things are currently set, every outside force that enters Sera’s life(as opposed to being sought by her), is malicious.

I would say that Merrick being evil is not true to assume at this point. It’s his job. There’s something out there that is mauling and killing people, and it’s his job to find out exactly what the issue is. Sera is easily the prime suspect simply of witchiness on a witchy issue. Of course SSI is going to come, especially after such violent incidents as the bus thing and her self defense.

Of course, he could be evil, but I wouldn’t assume so just because he talks in a way too cheery way (probably to make sure she doesn’t explode as he really doesn’t know her temperment, and most of his information, if not all of Sera is second hand) and wants her to investigate a crime with him so he can keep an eye on her.

Aaron, I really dig the way you drew this particular page. Sera really conveys a great amount of pain and nervousness that is simply heartbreaking in just two panels.

And Lois. You can see her frustration on not being able to protect Sera as she promised, and also the ambiguous reply she gives. Really sad.

And you’re already a third done! This makes me really sad, as that means there’s only 66.66666667% of the installments left! :(

He’s been posting these since February >_<

At this pace, it’ll be a year and a half until the whole story gets posted! Plenty of story left by the look of things.

    • alphatroll Says:

mali: i’m calling merrick evil not because of his motives, since i’m not sure what those even are yet. probably he does indeed think he’s doing the right thing. the problem is that his methods consist of subtle intimidation and deception. like a prosecuter who shows the jury gory pictures of victims to “prove” the suspect is guilty, he uses “visual assault” techniques to make his subject uncomfortable and susceptible to manipulation. it’s all about the way he does his job. the ends do not justify the means.

I can’t decide if I love or hate how effectively Mr. A has rendered the government faceless- if it’s done too well, it dehumanizes the people that are the machine.

    • AxMxK Says:

I actually find Merrick to be a good guy in his own way. He’s friendly, and wants to make a good impression on Serenity. Sure, it’s kinda impossible given her past with SSI but yeah. Gosh… poor Serenity… the mention of Maddy…
