Oooh, a political statement! Go Vicious! 🙂
Love the “nature girl” get-up (thorny vines = win)! Will V be making a habit of dressing up for each question?
Ooh, I just noticed the teeny scar-heart on the wallet chain. Nice touch!
Not for every question, no. Definitely next week, though.
Worst fuel source ever? Or best worst fuel source ever?
i dont like oil…seriously its screwing up the gulf right now (I live in Texas) but i dont think its making the earth hotter…it was snowing here in February…it never snows here…i like the ecto-plasm fuel source…give us some of that!!!
Since Energy seems to be the theme of about two entries so far, let’s take a quick review of everything.
I am not at all in favor of off shore drilling. I am appauled by the efforts that British Petrolium has made as we approach day 90 (which will be sometime this week. THREE MONTHS!)
The oil spill continues to drift slowly southward toward the Florida Strait, and if it reaches Cuban waters, no doubt the Cubans (under the rule of Raul Castro) will have any oil that enters into their waters collected without the bureaucracy and failures of a two party system that is currently interested in a pissing match with each other while a corporation that makes enough money to pay off the national deficit two to three times over gets away with destroying the environment.
When the oil becomes jetison into the Florida Strait, it will not only be thwarted by not just the Cubans but the Bahamans too. Here there is no blockade or government sanctions like there are between the US and Cuba. Yet, when the black tide attempts to invade the aquamarine waters of the Bahamas, they will be able to clean it no bullocks in the process. Yet, when the Everglades (another wetlands area) encounters a hurricane from the southwest (a storm similar to Hurricane Charley in 2004) the oil will spill into yet another wetlands.
The Government COULD come into help clean up the mess, but so as long as this asshole is still breathing, there won’t be enough local support to clean up the mess. But when a hurricane comes through they are all like “whe’re my guberment check?!”
If you want the government to help prevent disasters (be they natural or economic) you first need to realize the government is not the enemy. Barack Obama is not “an Evil Socialist Muslim Terrorists Witch Doctor Alien from outer space” who is “trying to take away your freedom, convert you to Islam, and put a chip in your head so that the illuminati and Xenu can fatten you up then suck our your tasty organs”. That crap has got to stop.
Secondly. people need to get it through their heads that if a corporation completely f*cks up (like on the level of the BP oil spill, Enron, or Lehman Brothers) they ought to be held accountable and not allow their lawyers extended time to get their sh*t together while they are going to the yacht club with the CEO who is in deep crap with the government. That crap has also got to stop.
Thirdly, our entire life has been plasticized, and like everything made of plastic, it is made of oil. It used to be that this stuff was made out of wood and metal. But now, just about everything is made of plastic.
Finally, Everything that transports that plastic is also running on oil and some places rely on it for heat and electrical needs. Here is the big problem right here. Those Ads sponsored by the American Petrolium Institute (API, which is BP, ExxonMobile, ConocoPhilips, Chevron, etc.) aren’t helping and are more or less propaganda by the oil industry to keep things as they are while we kill each other and ourselves over the black sh*t in the ground. Like the Coal, Nuclear. Natural Gas (BTW, See GAS LAND on HBO if you get a chance!) and Ethanol industries, they will appeal to your emotions and also use taxes as a strawman for the people when the government talks about kicking the Oil, Coal, Nuclear, Natural Gas, and Ethanol indistires asses by imposing more fines and taxes agains them. (“OMG, you’ll pay more for gas.” NO! The Energy Industries will pay more. If the customers pay more or the employees at the Energy Industries get punished for the Energy Industries wrongdoings, the government will come back again and kick thee Energy Industries asses some more.)
Wow, that was a LOOOOONG rant, wasn’t it?!
We have the techonology to use electricity through wind and solar, even at night and on calm days. Even Tidal and Geothermal could be used. But as long as we keep using the status quo, and letting the status quo get away with murder while the world burns, then we are in serious trouble.
Cool story bro.
Also, Aaron, is it possible to tweek the font on the comments a bit. I have a big monitor, but I still feel like I have to squint to read comments.
