CD exchange?

Postby williamthebloody » Mon Aug 08, 2005 9:36 pm

okay, so i have an odd and nutty idea. i know not too many people will go for it, but i thought i'd at least put it out there....

anyone interested in doing a CD exchange with me (or anyone else willing on here)? what i mean is, if youre interested, you give me your mailing address and i'll mail you a CD for free. when you get my CD, you send one back to me for free.

i know it involves giving out mailing info and all, so its rather touchy. i have a PO Box already for other online dealings, so i dont mind. and i'm NOT asking you to post your addy on here for all the world to see (unless you dont mind/want to). you can e-mail it to me here:
bloodyhell@verizon.net
i just really like to make and receive CDs from peoples and i'm always looking for new/interesting music by practically any means neccessary.

if youre interested, great! give me an idea as to what sort of music you like so i can be sure you'll enjoy the CD i send you. ^^

anybody? maybe? interested?

...or not. whatev.

8/23/05 edit
peoples who have signed up for the exchange so far:

Flying Dracula Hair
Sublimobeyinal
Scissorhands
Ashes

you send them music, they send you music! it's fun!

Sounds very interesting. Unfortuenalyt, I can't make any mix cds myself right now. Once I go on leave and pick up my laptop from my parents(brand new AlienWare I ordered whilst over here) I'll be able to and will participate then.

But like you, it would be a nice way to get into new music, so I wouldn't want anything I've already heard before.

EDIT: Shouldn't this be in Hang the DJ?

Hey, I'm liking this...I'm in desperate need for music...

Though, I have plenty of cultured stuff to send out. ^- Count me in. I'll e-mail it to you, post haste. ^^

Don't know who's out there these days...::shifty eyes::

I mean, imagine how may dead creatures I'd get if Ryhmy got ahold of my address...XD

Hmm, sounds like an interesting idea... I'll have to give it a thought (although postages from this far away are pretty high  )

What kind of cd's are we talking about here: self-made compilations?

Hey! I'd never hurt animals, you should know that

...I'd send you live volverines
(and maybe some evil birch branches and morbid rye bread)

I'm afraid they're unavailable. I could always mail a viper, but nowadays (with the terrorists and all) a 1 meter long hissing cylinder would never reach it's destination.
As you can see, a volverine is the obvious choice (I don't even want to think about how much mailing a bear would cost :o )

Seems like an interesting idea. Might let people into each others minds.

This sounds like a great idea, I'd totally be up for this. I always like learning about new music :)

So is this mixes?

This sounds really cool and interesting, but I am a little confused, is it mix cd's or copyies if actual cd's you send and the person keeps or do you send a real cd for the person to lend?

I am willing for this but I would want either copies of full cd's or a data/ mp3 format cd.

i'm talking abooot a "mix cd" wherin i rip tracks from my CD collection into a semi-pleasing sort of "sampler" disc. mine will be burned on Imation brand CDs which will be no longer than 80 minutes in length (the maximum amount of data allowed). these will be formatted to play in regular Cd players as in .wav files and such and NOT mp3s. if YOU wish to make an mp3 compiled disc, thats your choice.
i generally enjoy making CDs, not just as gifts for my own pleasure as well, and in fact make a new one roughly every other month or so. ive been told from various recipients of my gift CDs that i'm pretty good at it and that makes me feel all special inside and only sereved to encourage me further.
i was in the middle of compiling a new disc anyway and some very slight alterations make me think that sublimey AND dracula hair would BOTH like it, so youse guys will probably be getting the same CD. hope that doesnt make me sound lazy, but i honestly think you will like it. i only hope its not ALL entirely stuff you already have. well, even if it is, i'll make it look all pretty-like so maybe that'll make up for it.^^

um. did that clear anything up?

Rad! Can't wait for your CD :)

I'm all wet and eager to cook up a little mix of my own but I don't really know what kind of music you (Will) or Subby likes. I combed the "What Are You Listening To" thread to get an idea but other than Rhymy no one who's shown interest so far has really made that many posts.

Do we want to list bands we like or the type of music we're into (you can find my list on my MeinSpace) or should this be like a "surprise! random new music!" thing, just stuff we like and want to share?

Sorry if I'm making it to complicated, I'm new to this CD exchange thing :P

SHOULD I JUST DO WHAT COMES NATURAL, SHOULD IT COME FROM THE SOUL?

I hope so too! ::excited::

I'm having trouble choosing which songs to put on your CD...tell me, do you like classic orchestrals, like strings and the likes, or are you open to the brass, and band types as well? I have a lovely album filled with tasties of that sort...
