I suppose it depends on your definition of human. For all intents and purposes, she is. But it could be argued that she's not, because she has certain abilities that are not traits of humans.

I suppose you could say that she's...humanoid. She's got all the physical traits, but she is a higher being, with perhaps, more developed senses, or something?

OH, mehbeh all the witches are hyper-evolved humans. :o

Hey wait, I just remembered something from Bio 101...
Apparently, witches can mate with humans to produce viable offspring, right? Well then, that makes them part of the human race, according to the definition of species.
wait... can witches produce viable offspring? It's never been mentioned that they have any kids.
hmmm...

hm. interesting thought there , spectre. it never did mention any witches having children....

I heard there are hyper intellegent bears somewhere in Canada...

But, yeah, I think it sounds too X-men. And, judging by the number of actual witches, I think its more of an abnormality than a new breed of human.

I also think that somewhere, out there, there are witch children...

Next topic: Legendary Witches

This peeked my interest when I first read about Vicous meeting the Baba Yaga(whom I was already aquanted to in Hellboy). Is there more Legendary Witches out there, like Hecate or Elgeria?
(insert Rynan's lil' doodle of Hecate)

(and yes, I drew her with six arms cus I'm weird that way. But, actually, it's not that weird when you think about it...)

If Vicious had met Hecate, that would mean she was immortal...so, are all witches immortal then?

Mehbeh there are half-breeds or something.

<.< >.> Um .. *cough* Ok, I just gotta ... If'n you're squeemish, don't google search her. Erzsebet Bathory was considered a witch because people belived she bathed in blood to remain young. I seriously doubt she bathed in blood ... but she could have used death magic, as her methods did tend to .... kill people exceedingly slowly ... It still makes me cringe at the thought of some of the things she did and thats not too easy to do.

But she didn't live forever...

I think that would make her more of a vampire than a witch. You forgot to add that she died in house arrest for her murders...

Back to Hecate.

Well, maybe she could be a witch that had mastered her powers to a point where she could be considered immortal (look at Baba Yaga, she has to be like hundreds of years old considering how long she was in Russan folklore). It also would fit with Shakespear's title that she is "The Queen of Witches".

Maybe it's got to do with the shapeshifting? If they use that to make themselves young, even their insides, then wouldn't they kinda be... immortal? I dunno... I'm insane...

Now there's an intiresting theory...

...though, to keep themselves young, they'd have to be able to regenerate cells...if they can only manipulate ectoplasm, then the shapeshifting is somewhat of an illusion.

Or perhaps, they're not even made of the same sort of stuff as regular humans...mehbeh the reason they can shapeshift is that their cells have some sort of ectoplasm in 'em that makes it possible for them to manipulate the cell's identity.

But, unless the cells are pure ectoplasm, I can't see how a witch could regenerate them.

Oh, and Teim, I agree with you wholeheartedly. ^^
