I constructed a character already, I just need to read the player's manual so I can "fit" her into the game. Den I am ready.

Uhm.. Sorry I've been animating all week. I'll put together my Nocka on... maybe Tuesday seein as tomorrow is Paddys Day.

Lets see, we've got 3 players and no ST, ugh, I sorta don't want to be the one to ST, especially as I don't know much about the rules or background. Meh, I might though, if noone else steps up.

Question: How does a D&D neophyte with few geeky social connections find one's way to a D&D group offline?

I've been wanting to try D&D for quite some time now, but nearly all my friends in real life are either not geeky enough to want to try it as well, or they're...*cough*...religious.

I dunno, I've never actually participated in a proper game - despite always being surrounded by people that play. My cherished RP memories are playing Neverwinter Nights online.

Though in my experience, being religious doesn't take the geek out of someone. I know plenty who play D&D, unless you're surrounded by people raised to hate that kinda stuff, you might want to try and shop it around.

Well, they don't hate it so much as they're just blinded enough by their faith to actually take that Jack Chick tract seriously. It's kinda sad.

As much as I love to roleplay online, it seems that every time I start one I tend to vanish from the 'net for one reason or another (used to be school stuff, now it's new jobs). I also have PlaneShift downloaded (I love the concept of an MMORPG where you're actually supposedd to roleplay), but it's SO addictive that I only log in when I don't have to wake up early the next day.

Perhaps I could try that Meetup website. It sounds dodgy, but the groups usually meet in safe public places.

Though for D&D...it's more likely going to be in some guy's basement. :?

Oh, it is. Even the death part is pretty cool, but I won't spoil it for ya.

If you ever see a character named Dinoda Koodaye in the game, that's me.

you could always ask around at your local comic shop. i've known a few to host D&D games as well as heroclix and magic etc. even if the shop itself isnt open to hosting games, maybe the clientele would be interested. just a thought.
