Brutal legend was a mix of emotions for me. The game did not meet my expectations. And I had high, especially after the awesome demo the game relesed before it came out.
The demo gives you the whole first level. A level were you have to fight your way throw hordes of monks in a god of war/zelda style. This was really fun and became a demo I played throw a lot.
However, the rest of the game isn't really much about this. The hilarious yet awesome looking monks wont even show up again. (Excempt at one quick fight at the end. But nothing special.)
The game has many diffrent gameplay elements, but at the second half of the game, you do all the main quests in a rts style. The rts parts are actually a fun idea. I've always wanted to be the hero in warcraft 3, and in Brutal legend you get pretty close to it. But it's not as good as it could have been, it's not even compareable to the intensive feeling the first level had. The idea just come throw as intresting and decently made. I think this game would have been so much better if they keept the simpel god of war/zelda gameplay it so nicly introduce at the beginning. I'm not saying I do not appricate new ideas. But it feels wrong to switch gameplay so fast when one of them is way better than the other.
But there is stuff I really like about this game. I love the design, both how the characters looks and the world they live in. Brutal legend may not be the most technicall advanced game, but it got so much style that it becomes amazing to look at. A lot like Wind waker. You can really drive around for hours just to check out every detail of the world. For this reason alone the game may be worte playing throw for some.
The game also has a great story and all the voice actors does a great job. Jack Blake was made for the main role. But the character named Ophelia was the one that stole my heart.
Overall, Brutal legend is enjoyable. And even the less expected multiplayer is worte try out a few times. And if you like the games stylish world you have a lot to explore. It just a shame at the end credits of the game that you get this feeling that this game could have been so much better if it just gave you more of the parts it did very well.
