i luvs...
Teenagers from Mars
Demo
Channel Zero
Nightmares and Fairytales
Gloomcookie
Kabuki
Army of Darkness
15 Minutes
pretty much anything by Jhonen, including that Fillerbunny piece of shit

The Maxx
FSc's stuff (don't know them all)
and in manga...
Cromartie High School
Confidential Confessions
The Tarot cafe
Petshop of Horrors
DOLL
Battle Royale
anything involving the Ring
Angel Sanctuary
Tramps Like Us (who cannot love THAT title?)
probably some others i can't remember right now

It's funny, or perhaps stupid, but for some reason I never figured that The Maxx was a comic book. I remember when I first saw that at like 1AM on MTV's Oddities (back in 1994 or 95 or so, when I was still living in Ankara, Turkey) and it really freaked me out but it fascinated me too... Recently I rented and watched the whole series of episodes and let me just say to anyone who hasn't experienced said comic/video: You haven't been mind-fucked until you've seen The Maxx.
I wonder, was Aeon Fluxx ever a comic? 'Cause that was one amazing show. If you haven't seen it, well then what are you waiting for? Go out and rent it right now! NOW! SPECTRE COMMANDS YOU!
(ahem)
er... so, have you seen the animated version of The Maxx? It's quite impressive, very well done.

um... Spectre, away!

Yesh, I saw it! I was at the comic store, and they had only issues 1 and 3...so I bought 3 and ordered 2...as well as SR 6...it's so hard to have a comic and to force yourself not to read it. XP

But I was flipping through it, and noticed it didn't look like Kovac's style...ideed, I thought to meself, "That looks something more like what Aaron A. would do..." And then I saw the credit at the bottom. And I was amused. ^^

I love the guest pin-ups...gives you a chance to see how other artists are fans of each other! :P

Yea, that's how i found out about it, god that and Aeon Flux were the only reasons i actually watched MTV.

found the graphic novels and went mad on it.

those shows are actually out on VHS, so look at some rental place in like the cult or japimation section.

Any of you read european graph novels?

Like Bilal's "Nekopol Trilogy", of Jodorowsky's "L'Incal"?

I don't read any american comics exept maybe Jhonen's Jthm and Squee, and the only manga I ever really loved was Akira. It's kinda sad I cant really relate to you people...

I just love Bilal's work. I own the two first albums of the sarjevo- trilogy and I've read the whole Nekopol- trilogy. Great stuff! I also read Akira when I was younger. Maybe I should check it out again. I remember that I loved it as a kid :)
Even though I read a lot of "artsy" european (and finnish) stuff I still like some american comics. But no basic manga for me. Everyone's going crazy with manga and frankly I'm fed up with it :dizzy:

Never heard of Bilal, just Goscinni & Uderzo (Asterix The Gaul)
at least, I think that's who did Asterix...
Anyway, I've read every Asterix book and every Tin-Tin book as well. Those two were one of my only sources of entertainment while living in Turkey. I must have read The Red Sea Sharks at least 50 times.

unfortunately, i also havent read any european comics. simply, they arent readily available to me in my comic shop. and even if i knew where/how to get them online, i wouldnt know where to start!
i had a difficult time starting in on manga for that same reason. when my local waldenbooks store starting carrying manga, there was a whole WALL of it, that i had no idea where to begin. my brother recommended Ranma 1/2 to me and i'm in love with the author Rumiko Takahashi and about anything she's ever done.
i got inot Battle Royale because a friend of mine told me about the movie. now i'm HOOKED!
but i'm sure there are are loads of awesome eurpopean comics out there that i just have never heard of. are many of them available in english? aside from english i speak french, but not very fluently. :-(

This is an incredibly good start as it's fully translated and cheap.

Second comes this...

But I have to admit it's hard to find translated stuff on the web.

If you can read french I would strongly recomend Ptiluc' Pacush Blues, as it is the coolest thing ever printed, but there's no known translation.

i feel sick
filler bunny & yes i even enjoyed the Bad Art Collection
ghostworld

and i don't really read adventure/action comics much but i do enjoy the occasional x-men. i wish i read it more, but my older brother is the one with the collection & he lives in another state.

that's all i can think of but i'll have a rummage through my collection & see if i've left anything out... oh i also enjoy reading the few little comics that i've made :)

I love old undeground comics. Y'know, Robert Crumb, Gilbert Shelton etc. :P That stuff is just soooo bizarre :) I also like "arty" and experimental stuff often found in self- published comicbooks and zines.

Recently I've lost a lot of my respect for mr. Vasquez. He seems to be unable to keep up the quality of his scripts as the story gets further... I don't even like JTHM that much anymore :(
But I do love Lenore :) Roman Dirge certainly knows what he's doing, yessirreee!

I agree about Jhonen...I never LOVED his stuff in the first place, but everything has seemed to deteriorate as he realized he could sell thousands of issues of blank pages if he felt like it. Still, he's one of the main reasons SLG has become so pouplar...meh. As for Dirge...his style's a bit to free-flowing for my taste...O_o Though the monkey stick was a nice touch. X3 ...Aaron's still mah favourite. ^^

i really like that, but it's actually a book not a comic. but i still really like it!

yeah those tend to be some of the best comics i see, i can't believe i forgot about them.
at the convention i went to i think that most creative/crazy/bizarre/genius person that was there was this guy with this self published comic called "geeen" he was the best and he drew me a pic of a strutting banana, he kinda looks like a ladies-man banana :D
