I really don't understand why a PG13 movie is being advertised widely to kids.

Because Kids Love Pirates. With their eyepatches, hook hands and peg legs, they're like the Goofys of the sea!

I've delt with people with your ideology before. All I can say is that people where perfectly willing to force their children sit through 2 hours of blood and torture(Passion of the Christ), but they throw a hissy fit when kids want to go to PG-13 movie that has pirates or superheroes.

I remember since I was like 6 watching gory movies with my mom She's a nurse and figured I wouldn't mind seeing killing sprees and blood everywhere, dead bodies et.c She even taught me how to wrap a dead body. But I thank her for that. Today I have no fear for blood or intestines, and I can sit and watch autopsies while eating lunch (you should try too)

I do the same with my nieces (3 of them) and my nephew, and my sis has no problem letting me babysit

What I'm getting at is that the way they are promoting it to kids makes pirates look like a joke. Even the classic movie Yellow Beard didn't do that. Not even Muppet Treasure Island did that.
