the eragon rant

Postby evilmidget » Mon Jan 08, 2007 3:43 pm

After it relaesed, I went to go see Eragon, the movie based on one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. As I got pissed off at that preview for Epic Movie, I relaxed and thought that this will be a movie to remember. Well, it was. The special effects were great and the whole world of alegeisia was beutiful and well done. But this is where my praise ends. Yes, this was a film to remember, but I will always remember it as possibly the most disapointing movie I have ever watched. I actually spent over half of the movie saying to myself, "what the hell?" To be honest, I expected for the movie to leave a few things out. I however didn't expect for so many plot points to be erased, switched, left out, or flat out butchered. Not only that, but the movie itself felt rushed, much like the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake. It was so skewed, in fact, that it doesn't even deserve a sequal. Eldest was too good to be butchered like this movie was.

Well, that's my rant. any questions?

I havent wacthed it and will probably not. It feels like after Lord of the rings everyone is digging up old similar books like this one and Narnia and makes a movie of it fast to earn a few extra bucks. To bad, cause both Narnia and Eragon could have become awesome.

Somehow I feel like I am not the only one with that opinion, now how do that come?

I actually found narnia to be very exciting. But, seriously, this movie was rushed out of the door.

Eragon isn't what I'd call an 'old book'.

Was it written this year? No, then it's old.

I'm gunna have to say, those are some pretty dumb standards for "oldness" you have there.

Eragon was written three years ago. Lord of the Rings - like fifty. The former was written a handful of blinks ago for you while the latter was conceived back several times your total time on this Earth.
I think it's an incredible stretch to say that Harry Potter is an "old book".

But your feelings are obviously not off mark. LotR's tremendous success lead to Eragon's attempt. Do not be surprised if you see future adaptions of epic fantasy novels.

Hey, maybe I'll get to see Drizzt on the silver screen one of these days.

You're right, I wasen't even serius about it. And that the books were old wasen't really the point, more that they were "Lord of the ring-like". Not a rip-of of it or anything, just under the same bookshelf.

My Flapdoodledectector© told me this movie had John Malkovich and was going to be crap.

And I don't spend eight dollars on crap.

Oh you're FUSSY. Harry Potter is a great book. That series is some of the funnest fantasy reading I've ever, and I'm a Fantasy Hog.

You of course don't have to like it [/politcal] but to just write it off as unoriginal is silly! Sure, some of the general concepts aren't anything new, but Rowling's ability as a story teller are absolutely top notch, she really knows how to weave a bitchin' tale. The way the world itself grows from book to book is a great ride, how she gently sews in more details.

What FULLNESS

What IMMERSION

What a GODDAMN WAIT FOR THE NEXT MOVIE AND BOOK

WHAT THE FUCK? DON'T SHOW ME ADDS FOR A MOVIE COMING OUT NEARLY A YEAR FROM THE START OF IT'S ADVERTISEMENT! IT'S MEAN!!

Just because its on mu mind right now, I remember when I saw HP 2 and saw a preview for Zelda: Wind Waker. I was really pissed because I actually thought, at first, that there was going to actually be a Zelda movie. To say the least I was happy, but dissapointed.

{As long as you kids are reading these sorts of novel-trilogy-conflict-between-good-and-evil-things, why not try out the Lemony Snickett series? Endless literary allusion and metaphoric repurcussions, all in a progressive english format not dissimilar to the Potter series.}

absolutely love "series of unfortunate events" there's just so much to the plot, especially in the last few books. I almost felt sad when i finished
"the end"
I had my soul surgically removed to make room for all this sarcasm.
