So, long has it been and still is it now that the method of keeping spambots out was to enforce Administrator authorization for new users. Ever since this, though, virtually no new people have been joining.
There's several points I've been hazy/confused enough about to not take action since becoming a mod.
One is:
1. I do not know if Aaron(Gofflin?) gets these authorization requests
I assume that he does not or it goes to spam or somesuch, because we've tested, and I did it recently, and none of them become approved.
If this was just the problem, I think I have a solution. But:
2. I do not know if it is meant to be addressed now
Due to the delay of the upgrade, or even due to the clean-up.
I've felt in the past inquiring directly is being a unnecessary bother, or that it was my business, or if there was an answer already and I was too bubbly to notice or remember - which brings up:
3. I do not know what other people know
And if it's it something I don't.
I know that I've asked about it several times, to no answer until recently from Will.
One of you Mods may have asked and know what's up, and are just waiting for the appropriate time to bring it up or until it sorts itself out. Or if there was an answer already and I was too bubbly to notice or remember
For the rest of this, I'm going to assume 1. is true and 2. and 3. are not.
(Edit: I forgot - I especially think this since Aaron advertises the forums on the main page below the new comic)
I know that the first person in a long while, Isabel, "got through" because she e-mailed Aaron. I can only assume Candy and others did the same (I PMed Candy about it recently, though it hasn't been picked up yet)
I'd like to set something up that works the best and hassles Aaron the least. As Mods, we're able to make stickies and announcements and I'm sure the people who sign up peruse just a little, and if we set something up just for them I'm sure they'll see it.
Maybe to e-mail one of us, and we'll relay it?
Anyway, any thoughts or answers would be a-preciated (especially if there's anything to 2. or 3.)
