williamthebloody wrote:yeah poses are difficult. i'm only now getting fairly okay with them. for the longest time i could do an okay figure but had no idea what they ought to be doing AT ALL so they'd just be sorta there all empty and souless looking because they had no body language at all or facial expressions. just... blank. it took me hmm oh 15 years and i'm just barely getting there on that. ^.^' so it'll come to you. but luckily i do see that your figures do look way more natural in their poses than mine ever did back at the dawn of time when i was your age.

anyways!

i really dig that t-rex. i think you really have potential in that area. it reminds me of that jack kirby t-rex of death... which i can barely remember. the demon dinosaur or something? but that may simply be because they are both red. my only real problem with the t-rex are the hind feet. the rest looks really good! have you tried your hand at other dinosaurs? i could easily envision a triceratops in your stylings.

I actually tried a Triceratops, but it came out horribly... *shivers* I might attepmt it again, though.

About T-Rex's petit feet, I alway manage to draw the upper body nicely, but when it come to feet and legs, I really screw up big-time. I'm trying to come up with a comic, but before I do that, I want to make sure I get a few things right.

And Flying Dracula Hair, gald ya like it. My friend was amazed by it. He didn't want any presents at first, but I convinced him...he he.

More to come, so keep your eyes peeled!

The Hellephant and Inaba sketches are here! It took me a while to get Hellephant together, seeing as it's not asymetrical and has all these little growths and stuff. Inaba was easier, seeing as most of it's body is covered in hair. The legs sorta gave me a problem, though. These two were to put together and I hope to make more mutants soon.

And please, what ever you do, don't feed the animals!!! :)

I agree, it really shows how crazy-yet-creative I am. It would be cool it you did some, I'm surely going to continue with the madness! :D

And, William, I'm glad I was able to disturb you. :) There will be more to come, such as the my version of a Triceratops.

This is the one Will was asking me for...I think :???: My interpretation of a Triceratops. Pretty simple in my opinion, except for the facial horns and frill. I'll post up a version of this with darker lines if you can't see it.

Image

I would like you all to meet Grandmaster Grimm. He's quite likes ripping out people's spines, sawing off limbs, and the occasional apple pie. He's an older drawing, but I'm showing you him because I plan on redrawing him. He took quite a while, and definately screwed up on shading him, but he's okay with it. :P

Image

And finally Sentinel of the Apocalypse. I really think this would be the thing that would be stalking and killing people in the woods and trying to kill me in my sleep if I was in Serenity's position. He was pretty difficult to draw, mainly because these are actually 3 older drawings melded together. One of them being Patchwork Serpent(on the first post of this thread). I though it was fun, though. As I like mashing drawings of creatures together to see what I get. :)

That's all folks! :D For now...

On first glance I thought Grandmaster Grimm was a black mage from FF...

Yes, there are eyes on the forhead plates. They acta as survelance cameras while he sleeps. Glad ya like it.

I knew you'd like it. I got inspiration from Nightmare Before Christmas. I'd love to make a spooky videogame.

Candy: I never really played Final Fantasy. I've had my face buried in Pokemon games for aquite a while...that and Resident Evil.

Sera in a Jiang Shi costume. Did it for Halloween, but it seems I put it up a bit late. :P

As you can see, I got a bit confused with the color scheme. With my other drawings, I'll outline them then make compies of them and color them. Should have thought of that idea earlier. I'll be following that method for now.

More to come. Keep your eyes peeled!

i'm really liking mr. Grimm. there just aren't enough ironclad tentacled saw-wielding scarecrows around for my taste.

looking back, Bonz also makes me happy. both versions. dig that funky bass.

& i don't really even know who "kirby" is, but that one is definitely my fave here so far!

(the comic was enjoyable too, no time for critiques tho)

Gradnamster Grimm remade. Made him more of a floaty, blade-fingered ghost. Has all that sinsiter appeal in a small package. :)

Image

Here's one of my new characters, Luna. She's a werewolf, but not entirely(just has wolf ears and tail). This picture is of here sneaking around. Horray for me, I tried a pose for once!

alphatroll: Glad you like my stuff! I was planning on working on a comic, but I scrapped the idea... -_- I really need some help with it.

Anyway, I would like some crtitcism on the comic, though. Would probably inspire me to bring it back.

it's the silly spookiness, the "lightweight darkness" that appeals to me.

as far as critique, making the art much "better" (i.e. more realistic)
could tend to detract from the lightness & silliness of the style....i'd
work on finding ways to "hide" or "de-emphasize" the bits that jump
out as not looking "right". frex, some of the foot positions look awkward,
maybe you could simplify the shape to just "suggest" the pose, or try
a slightly different pose, or just use props or other tricks to hide the
bits that don't lend themselves to the simple cartoony style. prolly lots
of other approaches to that as well, these are just what come to mind.
similar for the writing; keep working on making the words "flow" well,
but beware of getting too poetic or the clash might make the art
style less fun. in the meantime, you can practice balancing on razor
blades or something ;)

props for the grandmaster's reinterpretation too, floaty smoky stuff is
almost as cool as tentacles and something tells me he could make
smoky floaty tentacles whenever he wanted anyway....

p.s. i notice those cute little intestine-jumpers are getting spookier!

Many thanks for the criticism. I really needed it! I'll try to work on my drawing style.

Glad you like Grandmaster and I hope my work gets spookier. :)

Well, I decided to show you the random doodles I do in class when I'm bored or have an idea. Their still sketches, but what the hell, if I don't show you them, then I won't know what to improve on. :P
