personally, i dig all those european countries with their good santa and bad santa (sometimes one guy just either really nice or really mean). if youre good, then good santa will give you presents. but if you're bad then bad santa will beat you with a whipping rod. or kidnap you and take you to hell. awesome.

my brother's boyfriend is OBSESSED with the Krampus. their x-mas tree has krampuses all over it. it is frightening. and also the greatest x-mas tree EVER.

I can't say I have any clue what you are talking about.

Perhaps you're thinking about europerean gnome tales? They have a small part in christmas stories but they often steals from people who hasen't taking care of their house or animals.

But me and a friend thought it seemed like a good idea although. That you have to barricade yourself every christmas from evil santa clauses. Like a zombie invasion. :P

i had read i one of Dave Sedaris's books that he went to The Netherlands and they explained to him that their x-mas tradition has santa accompanied by "six to eight black men" (never an exact number) and if you had been a naughty child, you got snatched up, stuffed in santa's sack, beaten and taken away. which ism let's face it, pretty damn cool. if i had kids, i want them to know about this sort of potentially hostile santa.

Damn!

Thats something I've completly missed in that case. And that makes me intrested! Seems weird... Tried to look after it on the internet for something to confirm it but can't really find anything about that.

Not saying that I don't believe you. Just would like to read more about it! ;)

EDIT: Wait! I've found it!

Always fun to learn new things ^^

Santa the Pope...wow. I understand multitasking, but this is ridiculous... XD

Very interesting to see the many interpretations of Santa Claus and how they came into existance.

wow, i had totally forgotten about Krampus. learned 'bout him in hi skool jerman klass. packin' cans o' whoop-ass for the naughty. what a guy!

the worst thing Santa brings to this side of the pond is a few dirty coal lumps, and mostly just as a threat. i mean, what good is the carrot without the stick? ;)

'course, i only know about the north side of the Gadsden Purchase.... i've heard lots but know far too little about latin american santa-lore.

I'm pretty sure it was not. I'm pretty sure it had a nice small size, that didn't annoy me as much as this one does.
