STYLII: Does anyone know about graphics-tablets?

I have this old cheapo off-brand tablet, got it for like 10 bucks 'cause it was a display model and the manual was lost and the disks were broken and, well, the stylus was nowhere to be found....

Never got it running on my old computer (w98fe and all that), but I thought of trying it out on my new one and it works fine, with the little mousie anyway. I guess it's some kind of EM field 'cause there's no obvious LED or anything under the mouse; it takes a AAA battery and the back of the tablet says the stylus does too.

(I scanned the picture from the box, but accidentally saved it in Paint Shop Pro format & the Photoshop on this stupid library computer can't convert it..... I'll try to get it up tomorrow)

So can you use a more-or-less generic stylus on these things, or am I gonna have to track down the OEM? & where woud you get one?

(the local office supply and Radio Shack had no clue, not surprising if you're familiar with the places; the Wal-Mart here never has *anything* like that, and there's no computer store for at least 100 miles.)

I'm pretty sure you'll need an actual pen made for a tablet for it to work-
think you can purchase them online somewhere..
Snemmy should know more about this...I'll have him read this hyar post :)

Most tablets are made to function with numerous pens. I believe Intuous tablets can be set up so that each pen can function as a different brush/tool.

$30 pen.
In colors too... sorta..

Those have 512 levels of sensitivity, which I think is standard on most low end tablets.

But really knowing the name, especially the model number on the back would help most. You could probably find their website and see if they sell accessories/replacements.

Fanks all, I'll track down the website, I seem to remember that i akshly found some software for it once but didn't have time to look further.... too bad I forgot to check the s/n.....

UPDATE
turns out it's a repackaged Aiptek board, the pen was only $9.99 but their online store is "less than smooth" (no chance to "go back & edit your order" frex), and their Engrish not much better....

(prolly would be an embarrassment to "real" artsy types, but I never got my artistic license anyway so who cares!) :P
