It took a lot of tweaking to get just right. Water is tricky! It turns out you really have to group it together to make it look passable.

you're really good at that there digital painting!

I really like the contrast you made between the oranges in the trees,
and the cool blues and greens in the water, w/ the swan painting..
it's also crazy how you made the background of the first look like it is cracking..
or textured like actual paint.

great stuff! keep working on honing those skills!
I can only imagine what you're work will look like in a few years!

I'm not actually in school for painting, (animation major) I just took it as an elective for fun. :3 Though I still want to get into comics, so painting will be important to know for covers and such, I spose.

The crackling is actually a texture I put on there. I did both of these the night before the final critique, so I was really pressed for time.

It's an accepted technique in the digital painting world to use stock photography for textures and stuff, but I usually prefer to actually paint my textures. Buuut I was in a pinch, and frankly, after how that one came out, I'm almost a convert to the stock photography technique.

(I could do a tutorial if anyone is interested...it's pretty simple. :3)
