Where in the world are the Halloween Movies?!

Postby Bushido Hacks » Sat Oct 31, 2009 2:45 pm

"Television is stupid." --GIR

That truth is never more prevanet than today of all days: HALLOWEEN!

There is NOTHING on today. Last year, TVOne (some alternative to BET) has both Blacula movies. This year, they don't even have GhostDad (which is awful!)

AMC decided to devote this month to Bill Murray, to which they only Halloween favorite Ghostbusters is not on today.

No Draculas, Frakensteins, Mummys (the latest movie sucked), IT, Rocky Horror, or anything else.

All their is the consumerism. "Buy a costume." And if Jackos death hasn't worn the hell out of Thriller this year, the halloween commericals using the song have. (I'm burnt out on Thriller at this point. Aren't you?)

So where is all the good stuff today?

Not much in the way of Halloweeny, spooky films on New Zealand television yesterday either. So I just watched some DVDs.

Anyhoo, the answer to what is on is of course whatever you choose to put on, since we live in a time of Arbiter-ism thanks to the internet. We do not say "hello television what will you give me today" we say "hello self in this moment, what's for now?". The need to rely on your television to help you celebrate holidays you like should be a non-concern since by projecting your disdain over the net you prove can similarly be injecting yourself with whatever fascination you have over the net.

So we say "Get up and sit down", 'in front of whatever you wish', of course.

Or you can do as Jimmy has, and rely on pre-prepared material.

Anyone also notice how few horror movies that comes out to cinema this month? Wanna know why?

SAW, Yes the worste movie series of all time is not only destroying good taste. It also has completly destroyed any intrest in giving out a new horror movie during halloween. Cause then people go and watch a new saw sequal.

However, I've heard there is still hope:

Let us all be thankful for Zombieland, which, while it may not be 'serious' horror, is at least good gory fun ("at least?" Dammit, I need a more 'kick ass' equivalent.....), and cameos that one fella I should prolly still hold off on mentioning.

I think, by now, must people know who the cameo is. Except me. Because I haven't watched it yet. For reasons beyond your technical comprehension. ;)

I really want to see Zombieland but it's pretty well out of most theaters here now. :(

I have heard who the cameo is, but not in what context. ;)

i GREAT context is what.

well, in my locale, the week building up to Halloween had It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! and a Monsters Vs Aliens half hour special. there were a few regular programs which had episodes with haloween included in them. the ones i saw were "Castle" (starring Nathan Fillion as a writer... i do not normally watch the show but the halloween premise in the adverts really sold me on it and it WAS good), The Simpsons Tree House of Horror XX, and The Office (american, and only the opening was halloween oriented).

but yeah... not a lot of spooky themed movies on air this month. they dont even have to be the scary ones... ghostbusters, young frankenstein, beetlejuice... ANYTHING!

Dracula's Hair is probably correct, though. in this day and age there is so much entertainment "on demand" that it is nigh impossible for boadcast television to keep up. with the youtubes and netflix streaming internet video, anyone can watch anything at anytime and don't NEED to "wait" for it to be brought to them like they used to.
so if you don't have the internet or a VHS or DVD player... well, it sucks to be you.

exactly.... so great it would be positively *criminal* to spoil it. There shoulda been a special law that every theater had to show that movie for at least a month solid ;)
