I got more entertainment out of watching the old Phantom of the opera silent film than I did watching Avatar.
Unicorns are real. They all just got fat, grey and lazy. So we call them Rhinoceroses.

i think i'm going to pass on this film altogether. i MAY end up seeing it if i'm with some friends who are dead set on it or something (or better yet, a RiffTrax making fun of it comes out when it is available to rent), but other than, i have no desire. i really despise a film that i can predict within the first ten minutes worth of air time what will happen and doesn't challenge me in my brain meats, particularly if it's made to be some big, great feature. also, i don't know, are they showing like really bad examples of the visuals during commercials and trailers because i am NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL with what i have seen in those examples of what is supposed to be a visually stunning film. everything looks CGI to me... i dont see anything that is fooling me into thinking it is tangible or real in any way. and what's so "great" about creating CGI environments? how is this impressive or important? havent we been doing this for a few years now? again, if i'm supposed to be impressed that THESE are CGI environments that "look real" i don't see how that's any different than other films that have been around for a while now and already doing just that (see earlier statement by me that these effects don't look any more impressive in my eyes than everything else already out there). so, if the "main" reason everyone thinks everyone else ought to see this movie is because it has good looking effects, then i say i am going to keep my money.

you'd be surprised. the visuals were the only two redeeming qualities of the movie. the other was the fact that they used mostly no-name actors and they did a pretty damn good job. if you can see it in IMAX 3D, then by all means see it. but only if someone is treating you out which is the only reason i saw it in the first place.

Really need to see this film. I'll probably just get it on DVD, cause three hours in a movie theater is too much for I. Nothing but darkness, people, and bright lights with heart stopping sound for three hours...

I had no real complaints about that one either, it's a perfectly fine way to spend 3 hours. Wouldn't call it *great*, but could never really see how it deserved all the bashing.

(Thot Waterworld was ok too, tho it prolly woulda been cooler as an RPG or summin'...)

3 hours in a theater CAN be harsh, but to me, if the movie is GOOD then you shouldn't even NOTICE how long you've been in there. if the movie is BAD however, i start to wonder how long it's been about 45 minutes in and every minute after that is slow-grinding, butt shifting, hell.

huh. i guess that means that it was a good movie because i didn't find it to be that long. despite all the negativity, the story keeps you entertained.

I haven't been paying attention to Avatar, after reading this thread, I suppose I will continue to do so.

Cherish the Ignorance, my Good sir. I gained nothing out of the film except the CGI in films is improving. Though I intend to see Sherlock Holmes within this month, funds allowing of course.

I liked that one. Good Holmes story, more faithful to the original characters than most. I'd a' said so in that other thread, but haven't felt like it.

& when Holmes says "I have no idea," he's lying, in any language. ;)

I once saw a movie so bad, I walked out of the theatre half way through...
The problem is...
I was a watching it at home...

My worste theater experiance was probably Spider-man 3. I waited so long for that movie and it was a huge disapointment, probably the biggest for any movie sequal for me. And the theater was so filled with children messing around that I curse the law that murder was forbidden.

Usally in such a sitaution I usally just leave. But I had really looked forward to that movie. And a small part of me hope it would get better.

I think my best theater experiance was last year when I saw "Mary and Max" at a filmfestival in germany. The filmfestival was so nice. Everyone was so relaxed in the theater, you really knew that these people had intrest in movies. And "Mary and Max" was an awesome movie. Plus, in germany you can drink beer while you watch. :)

Watched Outlaw in the cinemas, enjoyed it quite a bit but was rather confused to see young children there. Commented to the Cinema and suddenly, voilà, got three tickets back. :o Can't remember what I watched after though :dizzy:
