Australia and Porn.

Postby Squeek » Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:23 pm

OK....so I know I don't live in Australia- and usually I try to reserve my opinion
on what laws another country creates, b/c it ain't my damn country- yanno?

HOWEVER...I just can't stay quiet about this one: Austalia Bans Small Breasts as "Child Pornography"

Essentially Australia has just told every woman in the world, that have naturally
small breast sizes, that they look like children and are obscene.
and heaven forbid those that LIKE small breasts (like myself)..we must be pedophiles, right?

Imagine the amount of permanent esteem damage this is going to do..
People already have a misconception that large breasts are the only thing that makes
a woman look like a woman or even attractive..
It would be different if they were banning being completely bald down-yonder...
b/c people can adjust to that easily..
but now "small breasted women taking photographs of themselves
will now be guilty of creating simulated child pornography"!

My heart goes out to all the petite boobies in the world. I still accept you. <3

Another thing that I would like to discuss is the matter of hentai,
or cartoon-porn.
I'm fairly certain they are including drawn porn in this ban, as well..
and I think parts of the U.S. are trying/have tried to ban certain drawn porn too.
So my question is this; Should drawn porn be included in bans/laws against certain types of porn?

The way I see it is, this is not real porn.
They are not real people.
No one is being harmed during the creation of said porn.
and even though there are certain subjects that I definitely
do not agree with when it comes to this matter-
Wouldn't it be better for someone to own a collection of drawn, fictional,
highly characterized, porn to alleviate some of their possibly disturbing thoughts and fetishes-
than to either own real-versions or act them out?

I'd like to here other people's thoughts on this matter...:???:

Well, the truth is, Australia has been notoriously strict when it comes to things like this. For god's sake, they have even had multiple video games banned because of "sexual content". Truth be told, their government works differently than ours does, so take all that with a grain of salt.

Now when it comes to the Hentai, I think its stupid that some states in the U.S. are banning it. But it deals with a lot of taboos that can make many people uncomfortable, me included. But there is something called FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION in the U.S. that many people just don't respect. When it comes to any form of porn, there needs to be variety. Where there is variety, there is money. Oh sure, people have "morals" but everyone has a right to free expression, no matter how wrong (although, i draw the line at child pornography).

On a more personal note, I am proud to say that there is a huge difference between what i look for in porn and what i look for in a woman. I feel sorry for those that don't. Porn is fiction. I want someone who is real.

While I cannot say that I fully support nationalism, it is highly important to the progress of the nation that sectionalist tendencies be placed aside. The protect of the freedom of speech is more important than the coward's shield of state's rights. In Texas there is a law which states that you cannot defame beef. This is not just some quirky local statute, or merely the result of corrupt state politicians taking bribes from the beef industry. This small state law is a reflection to the rest of the world on how disorganized and behind the times we are perceived to be as a nation. While I do respect the rights of the states to levy their own taxes and manage their own day to day affairs, the national government simply cannot allow such ridiculous legislation.
But...
Is the nation as a whole ready to see the freedom of speech issue hit the national stage? Is the average modern American willing to accept the speech that he does not agree with? If we should mention hentai as a part of the freedom of speech debate, will he allow his ignorance on the subject to shape his views? We all know how hentai is portrayed and referred to in the mainstream media. It's foreign, it's highly sexual in nature, and it's not very well known in the American mainstream. It would be easy for the mass media to make hentai seem like sick perverted thing that "doesn't belong here" and is "unamerican"
I know, TL;DR, but still can we have any faith in the people if they're primary source of information is bigoted?

The freedom of speech issue had already long been on the national stage when it was strictly protected by the Bill of Rights in 1789. The argument's over. People who don't like it need to go find another country somewhere else, because in this one there's just no room for muzzles.

Of course, it's quite probable that a majority of federal, state, and local laws are flatly unconstitutional in some way. People are too afraid of actually *using* their freedom of speech to back our basic principles up. As long as most of the rules are made in back-room deals, this will be the case; whenever it comes to any sort of public referendum, the 'silent majority' is pretty consistent about upholding the *real* tradition.

-- okay, enough ranting on that for now ;) --

This ridiculous Australian law is obviously one of those 'back-room deals'. Australians appreciate their freedom too, and they won't let this ridiculous joke last, probably not even long enough to actually take effect.

Not to mention, the tourism industry's pretty freaking huge there, and they aren't going to like having a large portion of their customers prohibited from wearing anything skimpy on the beaches. There are an awful lot of moderately-endowed Japanese women among those visitors! And lest we forget, the traditional French ideal is just enough to fill a champagne glass.

I'd have to guess that a few lawmakers have grown overly accustomed to what they see in their favorite 'bigguns' magazines

this silly law makes me weep.
women cannot help the way they were born and to say that it is "wrong" to lust after a woman because she has small breasts is ridiculous. personally, i find large boobs unattractive. this isn't to say i like a girl who is completely flat, but i wouldn't rule her out. do people think i like young girls because i have been known to date women, my own age mind you, with B or A-sized boobs?? OF COURSE NOT!! if i were to take a picture of me making out with a small-breasted girlfriend in front of the Sydney Opera House, would I be arrested for simulated child porn?? INSANITY!

and yes, what SQUEEK said. are we telling these women who were born with genes that gave small breasts that it is wrong for men to find them attractive? that having big boobs is "right"? that any man who would want them sexually only does so as a substitute for screwing a 12 year-old? this is just plain wrong. women can have small breasts and be attractive! be sexy even!

it makes me sad because so many crusaders can get any law passed under the "if you disagree then you hate children" stance. which is such utter bullshit.

What the HELL is WITH human fixation on female mammary glands?

I've never quite understood why it's such a big deal, but anyway.

See so, if small female breasts equals child pornography, then what about male normal sized breasts? This is a silly point but I am silly.

What's the size qualification? Is it like, "if you are lower than B cup you are CHILD PORN."

We cut to a cafe, somewhere on the streets of Sydney.

"What do you do for a living, Jane?"
"Well I used to have my own website... but then federal agents found out my cup size and they shut me down."
"Pity."

This is silly. Very, very silly.

this small boobs=simulated child porn made me think about another fault of nature that could do this too...
what about SHORT WOMEN? is Australia going to come after them, too? if a lady is under 5 feet tall is finding her attractive going to make a person a pedophile?

As a very endowed woman myself, I have to say that I've wanted smaller breasts most of my life; since they first appeared when I was 10, in fact.

This ruling is ridiculous, everyone's already said everything I feel about it, so no point in re-stating it.

But I will say that issues like these (small breast discrimination) when they come up just make me feel all sorts of insecure when everyone and their mother chimes in with I DON'T EVEN LIKE BIG BREASTS. SMALL BREASTS ARE IDEAL.

Seems like, in protecting the feelings of small breasted women, the feelings of large breasted women are not even considered, because how could you possibly feel insecure if you had big breasts, right? You have what everyone wants! Never mind what you might want, because clearly if you don't WANT to have big breasts, something is seriously wrong with you.

Frankly I stand with AMK on this.
It really shouldn't even be an issue. But then again, there are so many people who think with their pricks, I suppose we'll never get past this stuff.

woooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaah
*I* never said small breasts were "ideal." i just wanted to go on record because, as you said, many people seem to "assume" the "bigger the better" when it comes to boobs. OF COURSE i dont pick my dates, girlfriends, or potential life partners based solely on breast size. that would be the stupidest thing ever. at the risk of sounding really lame and flowery, it really comes down to the individual person. yes looks play a part on getting person's attention, but as a shy person, i'm often in the company of a person for a while before i get the nerve to actually ask them to a date or anything, therefore i get a feel for them before doing so. i'm really more interested in someone with whom i can have a decent conversation and likes comic books and movies (not even the same comics and movies but someone who knows enough about them to talk about it).

but enough of that embarrassing stuff.

i'm SURE if it were the other way around, that if some australian doofus had decided that extremely LARGE breasts were obscene and now against the law, that the people who find large breasted women smexy would have spoken up. also, even if one ISNT a fan of big boobs, it is still easy to see how such a law is not very fair and can make a woman feel needlessly ashamed for some fluke of nature, such as, how i equated in another post, growing up too tall or too short.

i'm sorry SUBOB, but are you saying people shouldn't try to make these small breasted women who are being discriminated against feel better about themselves because it makes other people with large breasts feel bad about themselves?? what's a person to do??

I salute you sir!!

Also Williamthebloody's point about height is quite intriguing, being under 5' myself.. :???:
but I have C cups so that makes me look of age riiiiiiiiiight?
so dumb...I've seen 12-13 year olds with my size or larger breasts.

I agree with you, subobeyliminal, and I'm sorry if this
thread has made you feel insecure- the last thing I wanted was to cause such feelings.. :(

I often get insecure about mine b/c their kind of floating in the middle-range there..
They aren't really considered large....but they're not small either..
just average boobage here..
but I'm insecure about a lot of things...
In fact I'm thinking seriously about getting them reduced and a boob-lift
when I get older.. :\
(but then again I've also thought about getting a sex-change soooo...yanno..)
I know I shouldn't and that I should be happy with myself,
but it's so hard to be with all this shit constantly spewing in about ideal appearances..

The only reason why I personally prefer smaller breast, I believe,
is b/c I'm a very petite person who is very insecure with herself
and I am intimidated when "with" a woman with larger breasts..
not that I don't find her attractive....but I do think it might at least somewhat be b/c of how you said society views large-breasted women..

and that's a spectacular point, Subob!

Women are women regardless of how large or small their breasts are...
We don't magically become more "womanly" (whatever that means, even)
just cause we have large breasts...
and we aren't childish just b/c we have small breasts!

That's not what I'm saying; what I'm saying is that you shouldn't try to make small breasted women feel better about themselves by putting down big breasts.

Not to say that that was happening here, just saying that it often happens when the subject comes up, and it sucks.

Now Squeek, get over here so I can smother you with my giant breasts.
(p.s. y-front panties are awesome)
