I GOT MY BOOK FROM AMAZON TODAY!!!!

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

upon a cursory glance, i noticed that near the end when they are talking about the SSI witch facility, the line has been changed from "we/they have Superbad. do you like Superbad?" to "we/they have Juno. do you like Juno?"
i wonder why this is? maybe there is a TM on the phrase Superbad or summat...

also, they fixed the "Coblins" typo at the end! hooray!

They pulled the Superbad joke? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

This is a travesty. I'll be treasuring my hand-bound copy all the more.

But seriously, why? It kills the joke! Did they change the part where Merrick told Sera they had it too?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaackkk........ :???:

....bad enough they actually changed lines & totally eliminated Sera's unique speech lettering in volume one.... hell, they even yanked the "I have given names to my pains" line. Starting to hope I *never* get involved in anything publishing-related. What a downer.

"Handbound" copy? You mean you actually printed out EVERY page on the website? Man, no wonder Amazon puts DRM on their eBooks!

Outside of your obsessive piracy, there were some significant changes.
There were definely more colors than in the online webcomic.

Replacing "Superbad" with "Juno" was a fairly obvious change in the story. I could think of worse movies to replace that text...like Napoleon Dynamite. (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE WAS NEVER FUNNY!) The only people who think that movie is funny (or Juno for that matter) are the "irony hipsters" who have rendered several of my favorite comedic T-shirts useless.

On what page was the "pains" line on?

After Serenity's beatdown of Stiletta is taken to the caves and they both have no energy left, but Serenity has the cave ecto to use.

Stiletta "Kills" herself after the comment I believe.
Unicorns are real. They all just got fat, grey and lazy. So we call them Rhinoceroses.

If she could say more than "STARS!" (or SERA, whatever) it would have probably gone something like
"screw you crappy indy soundtrack"

As they came along, sure. It's so much easier to read that way; I do it with most of the webcomics I like. There's nothing wrong with making a print of something you see on the net.

Besides, I already ordered 3 copies.....

More colorz is at least *something*. & of course the obligatory pinups in the back, didn't Aaron already say something about some of those?

The humor's still destroyed. Using a movie that calls itself "bad" (and then some!) adds another layer, and the extra layer is what makes that joke work.

Funny thing about ND is that it's actually about *my* generation, not the kids who like it.... and from my generation's angle, it's not funny, it's just a rerun of the worst years of our lives. And the humor in Juno is incidental; it's essentially *not* a funny movie, it just has some comic relief. I haven't seen Superbad, and don't particularly want to.... chances are it's truth in advertising. (Jhonen taught me that with the Bad Art Collection... hey, I was warned!) But the title *itself* is what makes the joke more than anything else. The joke is about suckage, and "superbad" basically *means* suck.

On what page was the "pains" line on?

It was at the top of the page with the pictures of her assorted annoying schoolmates.
-->CLARIFICATION<-- I should've said the "judge of all things" page, in part 1....prolly more recognizable that way!
And it's not the only missing line. But the lack of Sera's lower-case font is what hurts the most.... it portrayed her nature so perfectly. I'm so glad I've got my originals.

p.s. re: Nice Things - Experience has taught me that if you want nice things, you have to make them yourself. Once you've *held* a traditionally hand-stitched book, it's really hard to go back to crappy glued bindings. If you want to find out for yourself, sign up for one of my CD-exchange books before it's too late; you'll likely never find a better deal on the real thing, if you can even *find* the real thing.
