Playtime!

Postby Squeek » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:21 pm

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I suppose "General entertainment" is close enough. :)

I propose we discuss our favorite TOYS!! Collectibles, nostalgic, old, new, figures, dolls, stuffed-animals.. anything toys-related! Post images of toys you own, toys you've owned, or toys you want! Let's get in touch with our inner-children! :tooth:

I'll go first.

I have been obsessing over these adorable dolls called "Monster High".
Image
I got "Draculaura" for my birthday Image
I like her b/c she reminds me of Emilie Autumn..especially with that little heart on her cheek. <3
but I reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaally want one that's coming out this next year called "Ghoulia Yelps".
She's a nerdy zombie chick. :D
Image

They're actually really nice quality dolls too! Each of their heads are a little different (which is very rare with most doll lines like these) For instance, Draculaura's ears are pointed and her nose is a little pointier. Lagoona's ears are like fins and her eyes bulge out a little while her nose is shorter to where she looks reptilian. Clawdeen's (the werewolf) ears are on top of her head and the has no human ears.
They're nicely jointed too, and their hands and feet are well crafted. They can also stand by themselves. 8-)
I just wish Draculaura's umbrella was real. Guess I better make her one. ;)

I've actually done working minute-scale stuff like that, mostly with brass or aluminum tubing, sometimes with plastic.... quote me some dimensions, maybe we can talk! (I also have professional miniature-sculptor's epoxy putty, aka "the green stuff", for the shaped bits.)

Legos. Legos, Legos, Legos, Legos. Did I mention Legos? Oh i don't think I ephasized how much I love Legos enough. Here's some more. Legos..........FUCKING LEGOS ARE THE GREATEST TOYS EVER MADE!!!!

::whew:: seriously, I still haven't outgrown Legos. Sure, I haven't bought a set in over six years, but that was mainly because nothing has peaked my interest....until now. First off, Lego has come up with a BRILLIANT concept (and something that I used to do in a similar fashion) of customizable board games. Hasbro is also jumping on the bandwagon with this concept...only without Legos because Legos are too awesome. Also, we've got the Lego MMO coming soon...something that I plan on letting suck my life away for the next year or so because I have dreamed of this forever. I remember me and my buddy Baird once created a city of the dead. Turns out, we were unintentionally reenacting the video game, Grim Fandango. Casinos, night clubs, a beach, a bar, a castle, a hotel, we seriously did too much with this thing. Unfortunately, we were too young and stupid not to take a picture of this. Meanwhile, I will be a show off and post a few pics of my current creations.

Besides this, I greatly enjoy collecting anything miniature from 25 cent (formally ten cent) and fifty cent (formally twenty five cent) vending machines. Homies, Funky Monkeys, Bok Choy Boys, Lil Ninjas, those weird glow in the dark aliens with tennis rackets and sun glasses, and even those bootleg Street Fighter figures (ultimate fighters as they're known). Homies I actually have a lot of fun with and even created an RPG based around them; didn't last long though.

They even make ACTUAL LEGO TENTACLED HORRORS now! Seriously. 'Scalled the "Atlantis" series, with all sorts of Lovecraftian beasties. Plus, the human explorers have reversible heads for before-and-after that blown sanity check. Curiously, the *girl* shows by far the most self-control. ;)

This falls more under the category of a set type I wished was around back in the day. Me and Baird had a LOT of fun with the Mission to Mars series as well as the classic Aquanauts/Stingrays series. I'm more interested in anything I can use for my lego wrestling arena I made. Still trying to find the right set.

I really liked how the old Street shark toys looked. They are still is pretty damn neat. I have a few in some box somewhere. But I've considerd picking them up and place them somewhere.

I never watched the tv show. Cause I don't think they ever showed it in Sweden. But I'm glad I didn't cause it looked really crappy.

Heres 2 I own myself:

Well, technically I'm a Discordian-by-default, but fortunately Our Lady Of Chaos is cool with mixing it up. Always best to keep 'em guessing, after all! ;)

I'm not sure if I've even seen them derpy ones before.... & Idunno why, but the image ain't showing in the forum (entering the address in my browser manually worked fine!).

They do seem kind of .... over-chibified. I mean, the things were syrupy-sweet-cute to begin with, ya don't wanna push that stuff too far!

p.s. oh wow, now it shows fine. That's weird. Oh well.
