Would you leave a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise?

I was thinking of going ahead and joining - but with books I like - I would want to keep....!!!

`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

This is very cool. It really encourages people to read and encourages those that do read to try new books. This is very constructive

i think this is totally awesome. unfortunately i cant help but think of all the books that store owners or mall janitors would just chuck into the rubbish bin if no one picked it up all day...
that small concern aside, it looks like it would also be a cool opportunity to get the word on some smaller press comics out there which have hard or soft bound editions. seems to me like a bound comic would be the perfect form of literature for something like this because, lets face it, quite a few more people would likely be drawn into something from flipping through it if it had pretty pictures. ^^
i can think of quite a few books i would like to try this with, but i would have to buy a second copy because as Cujunga said, books i like i want to keep!

To follow this up, I found a Bookcrossing book on a shelf in a vegan grocery shop a while back. It was For Love of Audrey Rose, and I never got around to passing it on...

A similiar idea was used recently in this town. Poets left poems on benches, in buses and hidden in libary books. It was actually a pretter successful event...
Unicorns are real. They all just got fat, grey and lazy. So we call them Rhinoceroses.
