This thread is great. <3
I've been known as a booze-hound in the past and have suffered through alcoholism...but now I'd like to think of myself as more of a "connoisseur". ;)
Whereas I used to drink several very strong drinks every night, now I only drink maybe twice a month.

I LOVE me some mixed drinks.
My favorites so far are mudslides:

A Washington Apple:

an Appletini:

a good-ol' strawberry margarita:

so, essentially anything that tastes more yummy than it does alcoholic. I don't like drinks that are just alcohol on top of alcohol...they gotta have some mixers in there..like coffee or fruit/fruit-juice.
However, from time to time (mainly when we don't have the money to go out for mixed-drinks or make our own) I'll settle for the bottled margarita/daiquiri or Leinenkugel's sunset wheat beer.
Like Snemmy mentioned, it definitely has a beer-taste at first, once you've already had a few drinks, it tastes like fruity pebbles. :D
So I usually like to use it as a "wind down" drink...after I've had a couple mixed-drinks but still want something to sip on.

I like sake...esp. warmed up and sipping on it while relaxing in a hot tub or something...but I can't say I really enjoy the taste, per se.. (unless it's the fuji-apple sake. mmmm...)
but I do enjoy the buzz that it gives b/c Snemmy is definitely right,
it comes on fast and makes you feel good, but leaves easy and fast with no hangovers. :)

I haven't had a lot of experience with various wines....mostly just the cheap stuff...
but there is one type of wine that Ban and I love, and that's PLUM WINE.
Ban gets this kind:
Image
b/c it's about the only kind that our town carries..but if we go to a larger liquor store to buy it,
We usually prefer Choya Umeshu:
Image it has little Japanese plums in the bottom! :D

I'm a straight whisky kindof guy. I was happier than a pig in shit when I found out that Maker's Mark came out with their new '46' line, they basically made the perfect bourbon 52 years ago, and now they have apparently made an even more perfect bourbon!

Also a huge fan of the Johnnie Walker scotches. I loves me a double of black label on the rocks. I don't believe good whisky should be interfered with in any way, just throw some ice in it and sip till drunk.

When I cant afford the above listed top shelf brands, I always give my good friend Evan Williams a call. Generally costs 9 dollars at most shops, and in my opinion it can hold it' own with booze twice it's price!

A story was relayed to me about a friend of a friend who once woke up in a full bath tub with an empty bottle of Evans floating around, he said 'My wife may have left me, but Evan Williams never will!'

I have recently learned (the hard way) that I am a sipper, not a chugger. I almost lost my lunch when i tried chugging a tiny glass of this grain alcohol with apple spice (which, btw, smelled AMAZING). Also, apparently, I am a bit partial to the occasional sip of wine.

Oh wine!

I been buying that more and more. But it's not a subject I am an expert in. I buy the cheap once mostly. I kinda like the taste anyway. And it's fun to have at home boring evenings or when friends comes by. The I mostly have bought this one. But some advice on decent cheap wine would be appricated. :)

Well there's Charles Shaw Wine...
Known as 2 Buck Chuck in the US, it was originally sold at Trader Joe's stores in California for only 2 dollars.
It produces a wide variety of extreme value wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, White Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Valdiguie and limited quantities of Pinot Grigio.

I drink pretty cheap wine too....I also don't know very many good wines...but I know I like Arbor Mist.
It's aroundabout $9-$11 for a large bottle, and it comes in all sorts of flavors...my favorite being Merlot.

Oh my GOD, that looks brutal. Good idea for my buds, actually, considering we ARE a gaming group (or more like a gaming fraternity at this point). I'd give it a SHOT (derp), but I'm still a light weight when it comes to booze. A mere taste of Four Loko fucked me up bad. I plan on (maybe) some Mike's Hard Lemonade for my 21st.

UNDERAGE DRINKING???!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! ;)

Yea, I'd have to use "shots" of like Smirnoff or Sour Apple Pucker, or something, to play that game..lol I'm a SUPER lightweight. I can get drunk off of like 2 rather small mixed drinks. :);;

but then I can knock back vodka like a beast. :o I don't like vodka drunks though.. I just get sleepy. :\
Sake drunks are the BEST. It comes on slowly, lasts a good while, and fades w/out a hangover. I feel nice and calm and happy when I drink Sake. Unlike Tequila.
