Death?

Postby Sig » Thu Aug 12, 2004 8:50 pm

Is there anyone who has an intelligent view on death? I'm getting sick and tired of the stupid, sappy media version of death. Death happens, it can't be avoided, Everyone dies sometime. I'm not saying embrace it, all I'm saying is that it's stupid to fear that which is inevitable.

No, I am not intimidated by death. I live on a , for lack of a better word, farm. I see things die all the time. Speaking of which, 5 min. ago my dog mauled a cat. It is currently lying in a shed, dead. I liked that cat. It was one of a set of three wild cats live on my farm. I belive it's name was either shisio or dracula, I can't tell because it had a brother the exact same color. I am deppressed by this development, but it is what happens. Things die.

Difficult subject to nail down. Lovecraft once said, ìThe oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear. And the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.î
It is natural to fear death, for death is the ultimate unknown. There are no pioneers in the realms of death. Anyone who says otherwise either is incapable of leading you to said explorer or has a vow of silence, thus negating their usefulness. (Pioneers are only useful if their findings are reportable) So Dead remains the knowableÖ

For now.

Also I have a problems discerning weather or not reality is subjective or objective. My other and I have debates on the subject. If reality is only subjective, as I assume, then Death is either a waking up or an end. Still a great unknown.

Mandraís thoughts on death are that itís generally irrelevant. When one dies, one will find out, so worrying about death only waterís down the experience of the now.

Meh.

I agree, it is natural for people to fear death, but death is inevitable, and it is stupid to fear the inevitable, as well as the unknown.

I feel that death is important in the grand scheme.... I mean think about it.... we live we learn many things throughout our lives then die.... it IS natural to die..... but then bears the question.... what do we live for.... well.... I think that there is some importance with what we do with our lives now.... what we learn... what we do.... and how we do it.... and that after we die.... we have something to carry with us to whereever we go.... with that said I can say that there HAS to be an afterlife... with a scientifically proven statement backing it up.... all matter has energy residing within it.... that is a proven fact.... another proven fact is that energy doesn't just go away.... it transfroms..... trandscends.... or moves to a diffrent place..... that said...... we must go somewhere..... the only two questions are...... where do we go..... and what do we do once there.... I for one.... do not fear death..... because death for me is just a new beginning.

That theory could also prove reincarnation, because if the energy transforms, it could just go to another being.

True..... but aside from a few unproved, self-proclaimed, reincarnates.... there isn't much to go on with that..... I'd like to believe the whole "return to mother earth" thing..... but empaths(or so they claim to be) would feel an overwhelming presance from the planet itself.... hmm interesting debate topic.

OMG... WTF? is the point in this?

Ok, well plainly, we dont know what happens after death, like we dont know what happens before birth, do we Fear birth? do you think back and go "that was so damn scary" ummm No.

So wass the point in moaing about heaven and hell and shit, when no-one has a fucking clue, to be honest (not in a suicidal doom n gloom kinda wa) i am looking forward to death, when i get bored of this life... Its a new journey, a new experience, so why fear it? If you fear death, you cant enjoy life, because you are so scared the end will come near...

If ya have cake, fucking well eat it, or theres no point having cake in the first place, and if ya dont, it'll just get stale anyway...

Actualy, I was pretty scared of Birth. After Birth, I was yelling and screaming and covered in blood. Some random guy smacked my ass. It was pretty traumatic.

Hey, at least you were born head-first. I'm guessing, anyway.

Well ragdoll.... it does have a point.... see.. it's the whole thing with the "grand question" which would be what is life all about... people don't know the answer so therefore they fear..... besides of which people generally fear the unknown... so th..

that's not true, people are idiots, that's why they fear

The HELL with you.... stop butting in!! ANYWAY I agree that it's pointless to fear stuff such as this but others are entitled to their opinions.

They are.... wow... did you know that Muri?

Shut your hole and stop being an idiot Mobius, Ragdoll, what Dark says IS actually true, for once, but the plain fact is is that people are consistantly fed lies about death, and therefore fear it because of those lies.

Wow Muri.... your so smart.... I wish I was you.

I know, but no one want to be you, sad really.

Why do I have to deal with you?*sighs*
